One couldn’t help but think that Phil Reed must have been beaming somewhere. The sight of his former basketball players running a hoops camp for youngsters would have almost certainly had the late Southold High School coach smiling from ear to ear. READ

Tears were shed when the Boulevard Boyz basketball team lost two of its first three games in the AAU Division III National Championships in Hampton, Va. By the end of the tournament, there were more tears from the Boulevard Boyz camp. This time, however, they were tears of joy. READ

Jack Hussnatter, a Mattituck coaching legend, seemed to have been cut from the same cloth that produced other old-school coaches like Greenport’s Dorrie Jackson and Southold’s Dick Osmer. His death April 1 at the age of 82 saddened those who knew him. (more…)
