Police looking for alleged Greenport Peeping Tom

FACEBOOK | James Lawrence.

Southold police are seeking the public’s help in locating a Greenport man accused of looking into the windows of a First Street residence on April 7.

The Town Justice Court has issued an arrest warrant for James Lawrence, 35, on a charge of criminal trespass, third degree. Mr. Lawrence has previously served jail time for public lewdness after reportedly exposing himself on several occasions.

In 2010 he was indicted on a felony charge of second-degree burglary and public lewdness after reportedly exposing himself to two girls, ages 11 and 15. Police said he broke into a Main Street, Greenport, residence, went to the window and exposed himself to the girls, who were in a house across the street.

He got the girls’ attention by whistling and throwing pebbles at their window, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information on Mr. Lawrence’s current whereabouts call the department at (631) 765-2600. All calls will be kept confidential.
