After the Mattituck/Greenport/Southold high school wrestlers took care of business, completing their regular season, they shook hands with their counterparts from Southampton, but still had one final piece of business to attend to. The Tuckers lined up on the mat at Mattituck High School for picture-taking fans in the bleachers.

It was the picture of perfection — times four.

With their 90-0 blasting of Southampton on Friday, the Tuckers (24-1, 7-0 Suffolk County League VII) concluded a fourth straight undefeated league season. They had clinched at least a share of the league championship two days earlier, but their win on Friday assured them of sole ownership of the league crown, the seventh in their history. At the start of the day, both Port Jefferson (5-1, 5-1) and Bayport-Blue Point (5-3, 5-1) sat in second place, one win behind the Tuckers.

Prior to this current run, the Tuckers had picked up league titles in 1984, 1995 and 2003.

The Tuckers rolled over Southampton (0-7, 0-7) for their 30th consecutive win in a league dual meet. Six pins and nine forfeits added up to the most lopsided final score possible.

Pins were recorded by Brian Feeney (99 pounds), Lucas Webb (145), James Hoeg (170), Tim Schmidt (182), Charles Zaloom (220) and Chris Schwamborn (285). Four of those pins — by Webb (at 53 seconds against Damari McFadden), Hoeg (at 54 seconds against Enzo Cirillo), Schmidt (at 1:58 against Jack O’Brien) and Zaloom (at 1:47 against Reagan Soledad) — came in the first period.

Feeney pinned David Mahoney at 2:49, and Schwamborn needed 3:12 to stop Ivan Ochoa.

The Tuckers’ coach, Cory Dolson, who has been in charge for the four straight league championships, expects his team to have a playoff match Wednesday in the Suffolk County Team Tournament. The playoff bracket is expected to be released by Section XI on Sunday or Monday.
