Manfred Lee

Manfred Lee of Cutchogue died Nov. 19 of pancreatic cancer.

Born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1936 to Franz and Gertrude Leibfried, he came to the United States after World War II and later joined the U.S. Army.

Mr. Lee married Roberta Baschnagel in 1958. He was a New York City firefighter for 23 years, something family members said he loved. He also had his own roofing business, specializing in slate roofs.

He was an avid tennis player and skier, family said, and during his military service was also a traveling soccer goalie. He volunteered at the Creedmore State Hospital children’s unit for six years. He loved children and enjoyed traveling throughout his life.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 57 years and a daughter, Jessica, of Los Angeles.

Visiting hours will be held at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue Sunday and Monday, Nov. 27 and 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at Cutchogue Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
