A Mattituck teen is facing drug possession charges after he was caught with marijuana and a scale during a traffic stop in Peconic Tuesday evening, Southold Town police said.
Police saw Colegedo Mokus, 17, of Mattituck speeding on County Road 48 near Henrys Lane about 5:10 p.m., according to a police report.
An officer pulled over Mr. Mokus and smelled “an odor of marijuana” coming from the car while interviewing the teen, the report states. Police said they searched the vehicle and found marijuana and a scale.
Mr. Mokus was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic violation, police said. He was taken to police headquarters and released on bail with a future date in court.
