The National Weather service has issued a winter storm watch, stating that anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow could hit the North Fork starting around midnight on Wednesday.

“The [Thursday] morning commute will have some impacts,” said David Stark, meteorologist with the NWS.

Moderate to heavy amounts of snowfall are expected to begin sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday, he said.

Snow is expected to change into a mix of snow and rain, eventually changing over to rain, however meteorologists are not exactly sure when the changeover will happen.

“The biggest question is that changeover; if we get a lot of rain the snow totals could be less,” Mr. Stark said.

The winter storm watch is issued from midnight Wednesday, through 6 a.m. Friday.
