Maryellen Fitzpatrick of Cutchogue died April 10 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 78.
She was born on Dec. 10, 1931, to Arthur and Irma (Clark) Tresham and was a graduate of Greenport High School, Class of 1949. On Nov. 22, 1951, she married James Fitzpatrick, and they made their home in Cutchogue.
According to her family, Ms. Fitzpatrick will be remembered for her love of cooking. She also enjoyed politics and political discourse.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by her children, Mona Gamache of Oregon, Ellen Saunders of Virginia, James, of Maryland, George, of Virginia, and Michael and Victor, both of Brooklyn; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Family members received visitors April 12 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where Deacon Jeff Sykes conducted prayer services. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated April 13 by Father George Michell at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
