Rose A. Deerkoski

Former Mattituck resident Rose A. Deerkoski died April 4 at the age of 89.

Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Mattituck to Frances and Stanley Deerkoski, she grew up and lived in Mattituck until the last six years of her life, when she took up residence in Westhampton Beach.

She worked as a nurse at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport for 30 years. Family members said she enjoyed gardening.

Ms. Deerkoski is survived by her brothers, Felix, of Mattituck, and Steve, of California; and her sisters, Mary Swerdzewski and Ursula Kosloski, both of Westhampton Beach. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph, David, John, Peter and Frances.

Visiting hours will take place Friday, April 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
