Anne Patel of Southold died at her home on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. She was 68 years old.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 29, 1944, to Edward and Mary (Brennan) Darroch and was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Her family members were long-time communicants of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.
In 1968, she married Harilal Patel in Brooklyn, and together they made their home on Staten Island before moving to Southold in 2006.
Anne had been the office manager for her husband, Dr. Harilal Patel, and his medical practice in Brooklyn. Among many things, Anne will long be remembered for her love of animals.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Sheila Patel, and son-in-law, Steve Benfield, of London, England, and Southold; a grandson, Nate Benfield; and her sister, Mary McBride, and her family.
The family received friends Sept.19 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where funeral services were conducted by Father Peter Garry.
