Teresa Pelis of Riverhead died Feb. 25 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 83.
Born Feb. 13, 1928, in Greenport to Kazimierz and Ursula Sledzieski, she married Stanley Pelis in 1948 and was a homemaker for all her adult life. She loved her family, they said, and enjoyed working at Bay View Farm Market in Aquebogue, the family business, where she formed lasting friendships with co-workers and customers.
Predeceased by her husband in 1973 and her daughter Linda Dougherty, she is survived by her children Lorraine Reeve of Aquebogue, Christine Quinn of Indiana and Raymond, of Georgia; her sister, Mary Klosek of Farmingdale; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation took place Feb. 27 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service was held Feb. 28 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue, officiated by the Rev. Marian Bicz. Interment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
