Frank Wills

Frank Wills of Mattituck died Aug. 14 after a brief illness. He was 87.

Mr. Wills served as chairman of the Southold Town renewable energy committee and was active in local politics after his semi-retirement from the metal recycling industry.

Family members said he was an avid hiker, kayaker and environmentalist and a devoted attendee at Town Board meetings.

His wife, Jeanne Merkel, and their family will receive visitors Thursday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A memorial is planned for September.
