John P. McLinskey

Orient resident John P. McLinskey died Jan. 22 at his home. He was 86.

Mr. McLinskey was born Aug. 12, 1932, in the Bronx to James and Anna (Foliard) McLinskey.

He attended Fordham University and served for four years with the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of lieutenant junior grade.

He and his wife, Kathleen, married in February 1967 in Bellport. He worked for more than 30 years as a physics teacher at Bayport-Blue Point High School.

His hobbies included sailing and astronomy.

Predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Mr. McLinskey is survived by his wife; his daughter, Nancy Lawrence of Setauket; his son, Lowell, of Ridgefield, Conn.; his sister Veronica McLinskey; and two grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Interment will follow at Orient Cemetery.
