Costumed canines, trick-or-treating and ice capades: Halloween on the North Fork
Bridge Lane Wine in Mattituck held a cute and boozy Halloween event Saturday involving owners and their furry friends.
“We’re trying to get out every weekend and enjoy all the fun festivities for the dogs and for the people,” said New Rochelle resident Pam Miller, who has second home in Mattituck with her husband, Jim.
If you brought your dog in a costume, you were awarded a free drink.
Owners mingled while puppies played, on the sunny afternoon.
“It’s wonderful that they do this to try to bring people together, and dog families together,” Ms. Miller said. “It’s a little quirky and fun. You couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
Speech Therapy For All in Riverhead, a location that opened just two weeks ago, brought the community together for children to trick-or-treat in a safe environment.
“We’re hosting a spooky-themed indoor trick-or-treating event at our Riverhead and Holbrook offices,” said marketing director Christina Claus. “We’re welcoming the community to come trick-or-treat and it’s open to everyone, not just patients.”
Ms. Claus told The Suffolk Times the goal was to engage more with the community and invite people into their offices so they can see what they look like and get to know their speech therapists.
From witches to super heroes, the children showed out and indulged into sugary sweets.
“We also want to bring some Halloween fun to the kids,” Ms. Claus continued. “We have Halloween trinkets and lots of decorations. The staff really went all out decorating the doors, including themes like Hocus Pocus and Willy Wonka.”
Ice rinks aren’t just for hockey players, but for folks to engage in ice skating in costumes.
Peconic Ice Rinks in Calverton held three events inside the bubble; From 10:45 a.m. to noon, attendees participated in the freestyle special for $5. From 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., the rink held a public skating portion and a teen night, grades six to 12, from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with costumes encouraged.
“We were happy to welcome our Learn to Skate students for a Halloween skate,” said Peconic Ice Rinks Skating Director, Kim Interdonato. “It was wonderful seeing everyone dressed up, enjoy their lessons and celebrate together.”
