Greenport’s Floyd Memorial Library, which sits proudly at the corner of First and North streets, turns 100 this year.

While the stately structure has seen some changes since it was built in 1917, its intentions have largely remained the same, according to assistant library director Poppy Johnson. READ

The recent release of Harper Lee’s novel “Go Set a Watchman” has piqued the interest of library patrons across Suffolk County — where every copy of the book has been checked out and over 700 people are on waiting lists.

Local environmentalists will present a “virtual tour” of Plum Island and go over the latest efforts to protect it at “Preserving Plum Island for Future Generations,” which takes place this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Public Library in Greenport. (more…)
