The next night, another vehicle crashed in Southold, police said.

John Hensley, 49, was pulled over on Route 48 in Peconic about 6:50 p.m. for an “equipment violation,” according to a police report. A check with the DMV found that Mr. Hensley had an active arrest warrant out of Orangetown, N.Y., for felony grand larceny, police said.

He was arrested and held at police headquarters to be picked up by Orangetown police.

• Someone punctured the tires of two vehicles on Second Street in Greenport last Thursday, police said.

One resident found two rear wheels had been punctured last Thursday morning, according to a police report. When he came back from work later that day, he found the front wheels had also been punctured.

This is the second time in two weeks his car was targeted, the man told police. Police officials said they have since had extra patrols in the area.
