John P. Gantly

John P. Gantly, a longtime resident of Nassau Point, passed away on June 25, 2022, at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital surrounded by his family. 

“Jack” graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington and from Fordham University. After college he trained with the U.S. Marines on Parris Island, S.C., before beginning a Wall Street career in investment banking. This career spanned three decades and included tenures at Lehman Bros., Goldman Sachs, White Weld, Merrill Lynch, W.R. Lazard and S. G. Cowen.

Retiring to Nassau Point in 1993, Jack enjoyed reading a good book, golf, boating and especially gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Lauren and John; and three grandchildren, Serena, John and Sam.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, July 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, with Monsignor Joseph Staudt officiating.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
