Maria Cruz DeJesus

Greenport resident Maria Cruz DeJesus died Dec. 28, 2022. She was 100.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Cleofas Ramos and Antonia Jimenez.

In March 1951, she married Carlos DeJesus. She was a member of the St. Agnes R.C. Church Rosary Society and family said she enjoyed gardening, travel, cooking and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carlos DeJesus, and her three sisters, Felipa Jiménez, Clotilde Jiménez Osorio and Eustolia Jiménez. She is survived by her four children, Barbara Soriano of Pomona, Calif., Carlos X. DeJesus of Greenport, Mariana Martin of Aurora, Ill., and Teresa DeJesus of Henderson, Nev.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family received visitors Jan. 3 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. Funeral services took place Jan. 4 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport, with Father Piotr Narkiewicz presiding.
