George Paul Peter

George Paul Peter, a resident of East Marion for more than 40 years, died Feb. 22, 2023, in Brooklyn. He was 87.

Born Sept. 29, 1935, in the Bronx, he was the son of Peter J. and Louise (Wecklein) Peter.

George held a bachelor’s degree. He married Diane Dunbar in October 1978 in East Marion. He worked as a media salesman in Manhattan, and later as a driver for Times Review Media Group.

He was a former board member and volunteer for various committees of East End Seaport Museum in Greenport and former president of the Gardiners Bay Estate Home Owner Association.

Predeceased by his wife, in 2021, and his siblings, he is survived by his children, David Peter (Patricia) of Kings Park, Diane Peter Lynch (Eddie) of Brooklyn and Morgan Dunbar (Staci) of Weston, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

The family received visitors Feb. 27 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral service took place Feb. 28 at the funeral home, with Father Piotr Narkiewicz officiating. Interment followed at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport.
