Southold Town police responded to a report of an intoxicated male urinating in the flower beds of a parking lot in Cutchogue on Saturday around 4:24 p.m., and the officer transported him to Mattituck, where he was trying to go, police said.

• A New Suffolk man said that multiple items were stolen off his front porch sometime in the last month, including a weed wacker, a kerosene heater and an air compressor, police said. The items valued about $250. READ

Joseph A. Flaherty

Joseph A. Flaherty died at Peconic Landing in Greenport Aug. 7, 2018. Joe was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo. He received a physics degree from Rockhurst College in Kansas City in 1952 before joining the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1953. After his service, he took a job with NBC in New York City, where he met his wife Jan. The couple were married in 1957 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Last year, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  (more…)
